A mixed bag in the budget, but the First Home Owner’s Grant has been extended for six months, (end December 2009), due to the GFC (read previous article).
This means that the increases in the FHOG from last October remain, that is, $14,000 for existing properties and $21,000 for new homes.
Key Points:
· If you enter into a contract on or before 30th September you will receive the full FHOG.
· From 1st October to 31st December the boost will be halved, ie $10,500 for established homes and $14,000 for new homes.
What’s the Boost?
The First Home Owner’s Boost is part of the Australian Government's Economic Security Strategy and is administered by state and territory governments.
